Description
1927 $2 1/2 Gold Quarter Eagle, NGC MS-65. This attractive Quarter Eagle represents one of the final years of regular circulation coinage in this popular denomination. The 1927 issue maintains the classic design by Bela Lyon Pratt that graced the $2 1/2 gold piece from 1908 through 1929, featuring Lady Liberty in profile on the obverse and an eagle at rest on the reverse. The NGC MS-65 grade indicates this example exhibits well-preserved mint luster with only minor surface imperfections consistent with the grade. At this quality level, the coin displays strong strike definition and attractive eye appeal, making it a desirable addition to any collection of pre-1933 United States gold coinage. The piece contains .2419 troy ounces of pure gold, giving it both numismatic and intrinsic metal value. The Quarter Eagle denomination, produced in limited quantities during the late 1920s, remains popular with collectors of early American gold coins. This 1927-dated specimen offers solid numismatic quality and the historical significance of pre-Depression era coinage. NGC Certification Number: 3316097004
