Description
# 1913 $5 Indian Head Gold Half Eagle. A beautifully preserved Philadelphia Mint Indian Head Half Eagle from the classic pre-1933 gold series, certified by PCGS at Choice Uncirculated MS-63. This exceptional example represents a significant year in the Bela Lyon Pratt designed Indian Head gold coin series. Struck with 915,901 total mintage, this piece exemplifies the refined artistry of early 20th-century American coinage. The coin features the distinctive incuse design characteristic of Pratt's innovative approach, with 90% gold and 10% copper composition. Measuring 21.6mm in diameter and weighing 8.36g, the coin displays the traditional reeded edge typical of gold coinage of its era. The specimen exhibits characteristic light to medium yellow gold coloration with occasional greenish tints, typical of high-grade examples from this period. Well-struck with finely granular surfaces and excellent luster, this coin represents a solid representative of the 1913 Philadelphia issue. Population data indicates 3,104 total graded, with only 1,217 in higher grades, making this an appealing collector specimen. PCGS Certification: 83579756. Price Guide Value: $2,225. Condition: Choice Uncirculated MS-63
