Description

# 1926 $2 1/2 Gold Coin. NGC Certified MS-65. This 1926 Quarter Eagle represents a solid example of the enduring $2.50 gold denomination that remained in production throughout the early twentieth century. The Quarter Eagle series, which debuted in 1908 under the direction of President Theodore Roosevelt and sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, continued to serve as an important circulating gold coin during the final years before the suspension of gold coinage in 1933. Graded NGC MS-65, this specimen displays the characteristics expected of a gem-quality example, with attractive luster and well-preserved surfaces that reflect its status as an uncirculated piece. The Mint State designation confirms this coin never saw circulation, having been preserved since its release from the United States Mint. The 1926 date falls within the later years of the series, making it a representative example of Depression-era gold coinage. Certified: NGC Certificate #3318047005. Starting Bid: $1,425
