Description
1925-D $2 1/2 Gold Quarter Eagle, NGC MS-65. This $2.50 gold quarter eagle was struck at the Denver Mint during 1925, a year of strong production for this denomination. The coin exhibits the characteristic design features of the Indian Head quarter eagle series, which remained in continuous production from 1908 through 1929. The "D" mintmark, located on the reverse below the eagle, identifies this piece as a Denver Mint issue. Certified by NGC as MS-65, this example displays the qualities expected of a Gem Mint State specimen. The grade reflects a coin with attractive luster, well-preserved surfaces, and minimal contact marks consistent with the assigned numerical grade. Quarter eagles from the mid-1920s represent a popular collecting area within the pre-1933 U.S. gold coinage series, particularly when found in superior condition. The 1925-D remains a readily obtainable date in the quarter eagle series, though premium-grade examples such as this MS-65 are always in demand among collectors of classic U.S. gold coinage. The coin's intrinsic gold content, combined with its historical significance as a product of American minting operations during the final years before the gold standard era, adds to its appeal to both numismatists and precious metals investors.
