Description

1925-D $2 1/2 Gold Coin, NGC MS-65. This 1925-D Quarter Eagle represents a notable example from the final decade of U.S. gold coinage prior to the 1933 suspension. Struck at the Denver Mint, this $2.50 gold piece features the iconic design by Bela Lyon Pratt, which graced the quarter eagle series from 1908 through 1929. The incused (sunken) design elements are characteristic of this short-lived series and present unique challenges for both striking and preservation. Graded MS-65 by NGC (Certificate #3660615001), this specimen demonstrates attractive luster and eye appeal consistent with the assigned grade. The 1925-D is a moderately available date within the quarter eagle series, though examples in choice Mint State grades remain desirable to both type collectors and date collectors seeking complete Denver Mint representations. This coin represents a significant piece of pre-1933 American gold coinage history, combining historical importance with the tangible appeal of genuine U.S. gold currency from the final years before the government gold recall.
