Description

1935-P Washington Quarter, PCGS MS68. An exceptional example of this popular early-date Washington quarter, graded MS68 by PCGS (Certificate #58330177). This Philadelphia Mint issue represents the type designed by John Flanagan and struck in the standard 90% silver, 10% copper composition. With a substantial mintage of 32,484,000 pieces, the 1935-P is among the more obtainable early Washington quarters, yet high-grade examples command significant premiums. This specimen exhibits the superior eye appeal characteristic of MS68 coins, with sharp strike definition and exceptional luster that often distinguishes the finest examples of this date. Among pre-1940 Washington quarters, only the 1939 is more readily available in Gem MS65 condition, placing the 1935 in relative parity with the 1936 for Gem-grade scarcity. Population data indicates only 12 examples have achieved this lofty grade across all grading services, underscoring the rarity of finding coins with this level of preservation. The technical specifications are consistent with the standard Washington quarter: 6.3 grams, 24.3mm diameter, and reeded edge. The strong strike and often spectacular luster of this date make it a favorite among collectors seeking high-grade early Washington quarters. An outstanding example for the advanced collector or type collector seeking premium quality.
