Description
1939 10C Mercury Dime, FB, PCGS MS68. This exceptional 1939 Philadelphia Mercury Dime represents one of the finest examples of this iconic design to achieve certification. Graded PCGS MS68 with the coveted FB (Full Bands) designation, this coin displays the sharp striking and lustrous surfaces that collectors prize in high-grade Mercury dimes. The FB designation indicates fully separated and well-defined horizontal bands on the reverse fasces, a feature that requires both excellent strike and superior preservation to achieve. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mintmark) during a year of substantial production, this dime nonetheless ranks among the rarest in high grades. With only 27 examples graded at this service level, the MS68 grade represents the upper echelon of preservation for this issue. The coin exhibits the brilliant white luster and sharp detail characteristic of premium Mercury coinage, with exceptional eye appeal for the grade. The 1939 date represents the final years of this beloved series, designed by the renowned sculptor Adolph Alexander Weinman. Composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, this dime retains strong collector demand both for type purposes and as part of complete Mercury dime collections. The combination of high grade, full bands designation, and limited population makes this an outstanding example for the serious collector. PCGS Certificate #58320924
