1940 1C, RD

Description

1940 Lincoln Cent, Red. This exceptional 1940 Lincoln cent has been graded NGC MS-67 RD (Red), representing a premium example of this classic date. The coin exhibits the bright, original red luster characteristic of high-grade early Lincoln cents, indicating excellent preservation of the original mint surfaces with minimal oxidation or toning. The year 1940 falls within the popular early Lincoln cent series (1909-1958), a period highly sought by type collectors and specialists alike. Coins of this vintage in MS-67 Red condition are notably scarce, as most surviving examples have experienced some degree of environmental exposure or oxidation over the past eight decades. The Red designation confirms that this specimen has retained its original copper brilliance rather than progressing to the more commonly seen Red-Brown or Brown patinas. NGC Certificate #8663953010
