Description

1982-P Roosevelt Dime, No Mintmark, Full Bands, MS67 PCGS. The 1982 Roosevelt Dime "No Mintmark" represents one of the most significant modern United States mint errors and ranks among the most collectible clad dimes ever produced. This example exhibits the desirable Strong strike characteristic, with nearly full design details across the obverse and reverse. The coin has been certified by PCGS as MS67 with Full Bands designation (Certificate #55494896), placing it in the upper echelon of known examples. According to PCGS population data, only 10 coins have graded higher, with just 32 total certified for this variety—underscoring its rarity and collector demand. The error occurred when a working die was inadvertently placed into service without the Philadelphia "P" mintmark during late 1982. The mistake was discovered at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, and subsequently in Pennsylvania. While estimates suggest 10,000 examples may have entered circulation from a total striking of 75,000 to 150,000 pieces, the vast majority remain unrecovered. The "No Mintmark" variety is generally believed to have been produced by a single die and is ranked #32 in the 100 Greatest U.S. Modern Coins. The Full Bands (FB) designation is particularly significant, as only approximately 37% of certified examples achieve this strike designation. This coin's superior strike quality, combined with its exceptional MS67 grade and the inherent scarcity of the variety itself, makes it highly desirable to advanced collectors of modern errors and Roosevelt Dime specialists. The strong market demand for this issue is reflected in its current price guide valuation of $2,150.
