1945-S 50C

Description

1945-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar, NGC MS-67. This exceptional 1945-S half dollar represents a premium example of the final year of the classic Walking Liberty design. Struck at the San Francisco Mint during the concluding months of World War II, this coin displays the sharp striking and lustrous surfaces characteristic of high-grade specimens from this era. The NGC MS-67 grade indicates a coin with excellent eye appeal and only light contact marks visible under magnification. The reverse and obverse both exhibit strong detail throughout, with the Walking Liberty figure and eagle rendered with impressive definition. The bright, original luster typical of uncirculated examples from this period remains well-preserved, contributing significantly to the coin's visual impact and collector desirability. The 1945-S represents the final issue of Adolph Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design before the Kennedy half dollar replaced it in 1964. High-grade examples such as this MS-67 specimen are increasingly difficult to locate, particularly in the San Francisco Mint production. This certified piece offers both numismatic significance and the aesthetic appeal that has made Walking Liberty halves perennial favorites among collectors.
