1947-S 10C, FB

Description

1947-S Mercury Dime, Full Bands, NGC MS-68. This exceptional 1947-S dime represents a significant find for Mercury dime specialists and type collectors alike. The coin exhibits the coveted Full Bands (FB) designation, indicating sharp, complete horizontal lines on the reverse fasces—a demanding standard that elevates this example well above typical circulation finds and even most certified specimens from this mintmark and date. The NGC MS-68 grade reflects exceptional preservation with vibrant luster and minimal surface disturbance. The San Francisco Mint issue from 1947 offers solid availability in lower grades, but examples reaching the MS-68 plateau with Full Bands designation represent a notably scarcer proposition. The combination of eye appeal, technical quality, and the challenging Full Bands criteria makes this piece particularly desirable for collectors pursuing high-grade Mercury dime sets or those seeking superior examples of late-date issues from the series. This lot is accompanied by an NGC certificate (#6355208002) documenting the grade and Full Bands designation.
