Description

1934 50C Walking Liberty Half Dollar, Philadelphia Mint, PCGS MS68. A spectacular example of this popular early-1930s issue, this 1934-P Walking Liberty half dollar represents one of the finest examples available of this readily collectable date. Graded PCGS MS68 (Certificate #58330155), this piece exhibits the exceptional strike quality and original luster characteristic of Philadelphia Mint production during this period. The obverse and reverse display crisp, well-defined details with thick, creamy luster that defines the finest examples of this issue. The 1934 Philadelphia Walker holds particular significance within the Walking Liberty series, as it marks the beginning of an era when collectors and the public began actively preserving uncirculated coins at time of issue. With a mintage of 6,964,000 pieces, the 1934-P was produced in substantial quantities and was saved in far greater numbers than its Denver and San Francisco counterparts. This issue, along with the 1939-P, represents one of the two most obtainable dates of the 1930s in high Mint State grades. This coin's MS68 designation places it among the finest known, with only 16 examples graded by PCGS at this service level and date combination. The exceptional preservation and aesthetic appeal of this Walking Liberty half dollar make it an outstanding addition to any advanced collection of this iconic series. Composed of 90% silver and 10% copper with a weight of 12.5 grams and reeded edge, this piece represents both numismatic quality and intrinsic precious metal value.
