Description
1910 1C, RD (Red) Proof. This exceptional 1910 Lincoln Cent Proof represents one of the finest examples of this scarce early-date cent known to exist. Graded PCGS PR67 RD (Certificate #35769985), this coin displays the brilliant red surfaces and sharp striking characteristics that define premium proof coinage from the Lincoln cent series' inaugural decade. Designed by the legendary Victor David Brenner, this piece exemplifies the artistry and technical precision of early 20th-century U.S. Mint proof production. The coin's provenance is particularly noteworthy, having been part of a complete 1910 proof set with accompanying gold pieces. After more than a decade of pursuit, the current owner acquired this treasure directly from a major collection, with the coin subsequently resubmitted and graded PCGS PR68 RD in 2021, confirming its status among the finest known examples. With only 7 total examples graded by PCGS and just 4 in higher grades, this represents an extraordinary rarity in the Lincoln cent proof market. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a mintage of just 2,405 proof pieces, this 1910 cent is composed of 95% copper with 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams with the standard 19mm diameter. The preservation and eye appeal of this specimen have made it a cornerstone piece for advanced collectors of early proof coinage and Lincoln cent specialists.
