1940-S 50C

Description

1940-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar, NGC MS-67. This exceptional 1940-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar represents a significant example from the final decade of this iconic series. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this coin displays the hallmark design elements that made Walking Liberty halves among the most aesthetically accomplished coins of the 20th century, featuring Adolph A. Weinman's celebrated obverse and reverse designs. The present example has been graded MS-67 by NGC, placing it well above typical market offerings for this date and mint mark combination. At this grade level, the coin exhibits outstanding luster and eye appeal, with sharp striking detail throughout the design elements. The 1940-S is a moderately scarce issue in high grades, as most examples encountered tend to grade in the MS-63 to MS-65 range, making MS-67 specimens particularly desirable to serious Walking Liberty collectors. This coin represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a premium-quality example of a key-date Walking Liberty half dollar from the final year of the 1930s production era. The combination of rarity, eye appeal, and strong technical grade make this an attractive addition to any advanced collection of American silver coinage.
