1883 5C WITH CENTS

Description

1883 5C WITH CENTS, NGC MS67. This exceptional 1883 Liberty Head Nickel with CENTS represents a significant numismatic specimen from the early years of the Liberty Head nickel series. The inclusion of the word "CENTS" on the reverse distinguishes this issue from the controversial 1883 without CENTS variety, which was frequently gold-plated by unscrupulous individuals during the period. The addition of "CENTS" was implemented specifically to prevent such counterfeiting and fraud. Graded MS67 by NGC (Certificate #8663955009), this piece exhibits outstanding eye appeal and preservation typical of the finest examples of this date. The technical grade reflects exceptional luster, sharp strike details, and minimal surface marks—qualities that place this nickel among the most desirable specimens available to serious collectors. The 1883 with CENTS remains a cornerstone date for Liberty Head nickel collectors, offering both historical significance and strong collector demand. This MS67 example represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a premium-quality representative of this important transitional issue.
