Description

1944-D Mercury Dime, Full Bands, NGC MS68. This exceptional 1944-D dime represents a superior example of Mercury coinage from the final year of production at the Denver Mint. The Full Bands designation indicates sharp, well-defined horizontal lines on the fasces reverse—a key diagnostic feature that significantly enhances desirability and collector value. The Denver Mint mark is clearly visible below the date on the obverse. Graded MS68 by NGC (Certificate #8663676003), this piece exhibits outstanding eye appeal with brilliant luster and exceptional strike quality. The high numerical grade reflects minimal contact marks and superior preservation, placing this coin among the finest examples of the date and mint combination. Mercury dimes from 1944-D with Full Bands designation are particularly sought after by specialists, as achieving sharp reverse definition on coins from this period presents significant die-striking challenges. A premium offering for the discerning Mercury dime collector, this coin combines rarity of condition with the desirable Full Bands feature that defines the most collectible examples of this iconic American series.
