Description
1941-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar, MS67. This exceptional example of the 1941-D Walking Liberty half dollar represents a premium specimen from Denver Mint production. Struck by renowned designer Adolph Alexander Weinman, this coin exhibits the characteristic qualities that make the 1941-D highly desirable to collectors of this iconic series. The piece displays excellent strike definition and the fantastic white frosty luster typical of Denver Mint Walkers from this era, with well-preserved surfaces befitting its high grade. The MS67 designation from PCGS places this coin among the finer examples of the date, with only 61 coins graded higher across the entire population of 392 certified pieces. While 1941-D half dollars were saved in significant quantities during their era, examples in Gem condition with such pristine preservation remain highly sought after. The Denver Mint issue carries a notable premium over its Philadelphia Mint counterpart due to its relative scarcity in the marketplace. Composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, this half dollar represents the final year of the Walking Liberty design before the series concluded in 1947. The coin's reeded edge, 30mm diameter, and 12.5-gram weight are consistent with specifications of the period. With a substantial original mintage of over 11.2 million pieces, the 1941-D remains available to collectors, yet choice examples such as this certified specimen continue to command collector interest and appreciation.
