Description

# 1938-S 50C Texas Commemorative Half Dollar, MS67 DCAM. NGC MS67 DCAM | Certificate #44724707. This exceptional 1938-S Texas Commemorative Half Dollar represents a significant piece of American numismatic history. The Texas Commemorative series, designed to celebrate the centennial of Texas independence, remains one of the most popular and collected commemorative issues among modern collectors. This San Francisco Mint example exhibits the characteristic deep cameo contrast that distinguishes the finest examples of this classic design. The coin displays outstanding preservation with a grade of MS67 DCAM from NGC, placing it well above the typical grades encountered for this issue. The deep cameo designation indicates exceptional contrast between the frosted devices and mirrorlike fields, a hallmark of superior strike quality and minimal handling. With a mintage of 3,262,948 pieces, the 1938-S is readily available in lower grades, making this higher-grade DCAM example particularly noteworthy for discerning collectors seeking premium specimens. Struck in 90% silver composition (standard for commemorative half dollars of the era), this piece combines historical significance with strong eye appeal. The population data reflects that while approximately 6,844 examples have been certified, only 1,357 have achieved higher grades, underscoring the rarity of this MS67 DCAM specimen. An excellent addition to any Texas Commemorative collection or broader commemorative holdings.
